This will certainly improve literacy level in Kenya and hence goal number 2 is one of the MDGs that Kenya is proud to have already achieved. Currently a large number of children are currently enrolled in the free primary education also not forgetting prisoners and old people whom we have witnessed in recent years sitting for their primary school final exams that is the KCPE. This has increased enrolment rates in primary schools, translating into high transition rates to secondary schools. The government has provided free primary school education and increased resource allocation to enhance its delivery. Goal 2: Achieve universal primary education Kibera slums being the first of the government projects has seen several houses demolished and in return the government has built several standard houses in which people from the slums can live on. Poverty reduction is currently being witnessed, the government through urbanization is trying to upgrade every slum in Nairobi and its environs. Agriculture sector aims to achieve food security for all, increase employment, generate income and reduce poverty. The government has formulated a strategy for revitalizing agriculture, which is being implemented through the ministry of agriculture. ![]() Even though by today, 2014, some of the targets may have not been achieved, the Kenyan government has certainly done a lot to MDGs in Kenya are being addressed in their respective sectors through different interventions such as formulation of policies and strategies to address the goals. World leaders including Kenya adopted the MDGs in 2000 to address the challenges of poverty, disease, illiteracy and environmental degradation. Kenya on the 8 Millennium Development Goals.
